Dr. Shane Pedersen and his wife, Linda, purchased Veterinary Health Services from Dr. Kelly Heath in 2002. Dr. Pedersen had been employed by the clinic since he graduated in 1999.
Dr. Pedersen grew up in nearby Hoskins, NE, attending Christ Lutheran School and graduating from Norfolk Senior High. After high school, he attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO, before early acceptance into Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Manhattan, KS.
Linda grew up in Norfolk, graduating from Norfolk Senior High and then Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE. In the summer of 1996, high-school sweethearts, Shane and Linda were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk and moved to Manhattan, KS, while Shane attended veterinary school.
Willow Creek Veterinary Service, P. C. is a clinic in a long succession of clinics in Pierce. The clinic we are in today was constructed and finished in December 2002. The clinic was designed with both our large and small animal patients in mind. Of the 4000 square feet inside our building, over half of it is dedicated to our small animal patients.
We offer 2 exam rooms and separate boarding/hospitalization facilities for our canine and feline patients. Our grooming facilities are adjacent to our boarding kennels and our surgery suite is adjacent to our large treatment area. We offer digital x-ray, PennHip certification, ultrasonography, laser therapy, a complete in-house laboratory for head to tail diagnostics, and gas anesthesia for our small animal patients. In addition, Dr. Pedersen is trained in external fixators, so we offer orthopedic surgery for repairing knees and various fractures.
For our large animal patients, we have our safe Haul-In Facility that is large enough to handle a pot load of cattle, inside facilities for large animal surgery, horse stocks, Swiss Float for horse teeth, ultrasound, facilities for calf iv setup, and a heavy duty portable hydraulic cattle chute with scale.
At Willow Creek, our clinic’s focus has evolved from mainly large animals to the point where we work hard to serve our companion animal patients as well as our agriculture patients equally. In addition to being a full service clinic during business hours, we also offer 24/7 emergency services.
In 2010, Shane and Linda opened a second clinic in Norfolk to focus on small animal medicine and offer boarding and grooming. Westside Family Pet Clinic has grown and in 2015, they moved into a newly built facility on the west side of Norfolk. In this new facility in Norfolk we have added many new services since 2015. We can now do many laparoscopic surgeries, we can repair cranial cruciates with TPLO or lateral suture surgeries, we now have a certified acupuncturist and we have added cryosurgery.
Between the 2 offices, the Pedersen’s currently employ around 31 full and part time employees, including 2 additional full-time veterinarians. The Pedersen family lives just southwest of Pierce on a small acreage
